Brazil CPI - May Inflation at 0.13% m/m, 4.66% y/y, Below Forecasts Median. 12m Core Measures stable (0101-LSNG-C01)

May IPCA came below the median of market expectations at 0.13%m/m, 4.66%y/y. The drop was heavily influenced by food prices, which came at -0.56%m/m. Moreover core and services numbers showed slowdown although in 12m framework, there was basically no change with core down at 3.6%y/y from 3.7%y/y and in services with no change at 3.9%y/y.

12m inflation remains above the 4.25% central target, as had been forecasted by the Central Bank but the trend is downward, suggesting the weak economy will limit the upside risk and encourage calls for rate cuts.
