Car production continues to recover across the board and is getting closer to equivalent months of 2008 production. February production rose 55.6%y/y supported by the 96.8%y/y increase in exports and constrained by the 3.3% fall in domestic sales. As in all the recovery process the production of US firms is leading the surge with a 93.6%y/y combined increase. Interestingly export are already 9% over similar period in 2008 while domestic sales are 31.6% respect to similar period. The pattern underlines the result of the restructuring of production in the US with Mexico the clear beneficiary of the event. This is another example of the lack of dynamism in the domestic market which puts the onus of the recovery on the US demand.
